Knowing how to use an AED is as important as knowing how to perform CPR. Because AEDs are vital life-saving devices, they are becoming more available at a variety of public venues -including workplaces- and communities such as ours.
For your home: HeartStart OnSite Automated External Defibrillators Designed for the ordinary person in the extraordinary moment, the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED is ready to act and virtually ready to go.
It allows anyone with little or no training to treat the most common cause of suspected sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) by delivering a shock quickly and effectively, wherever SCA happens. The OnSite automated external defibrillator provides practically real-time guidance through step-by-step voice commands from pad placement to performing CPR.
Designed for the Layperson HS1 OnSite AED - Person
The Philips AED is now installed in the guardhouse. Residents are encouraged to take a look and become familiar with its location. A poster and a manual with instruction for AED and CPR are next to the AED.
California's Good Samaritan Law: for those unfamiliar with this, below is an explanation:The California Good Samaritan law shields a person from civil liability that might otherwise arise out of providing emergency medical or non-medical care at the scene of an emergency.
HS 1799.102 states that “(a) No person who in good faith, and not for compensation, renders emergency medical or non-medical care at the scene of an emergency shall be liable for any civil damages resulting from any act or omission. The scene of an emergency shall not include emergency departments and other places where medical care is usually offered. This subdivision applies only to the medical, law enforcement, and emergency personnel specified in this chapter.”
Thank you for helping our community become heart-safe!
